Beliefs

What we believe at Hope Church about Jesus, the Bible, and the Church

Our Beliefs

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is at the center of everything. We believe that Jesus is the only one who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life. We believe that Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.

THE TRINITY

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

The bible

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative, and applicable to our everyday lives.

THE SEPARATION

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

THE RECONCILIATION

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and reconciliation with God, we must repent of our sins, believe in Jesus, and commit to His will for our lives.

THE CHURCH

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together. It is God’s mission to the world, it is his body on the earth. It’s God’s people in a particular place empowered by his Spirit to be salt and light.

Church Membership

The Hope Church membership covenant is birthed out of our love for the church body and its individual members whom we hope will experience the fullness of joy which is found in the presence of the Lord.

The church exists for the display of the glory of God because all things exist for His glory. Those of us who trust in and follow Jesus are called in to something much bigger than ourselves. We have graciously been invited into God’s redemptive purposes in the world.

Since the beginning, God has been creating and calling a people to himself to display His glory to and for the display of His glory in a grand narrative of redemption and reconciliation. Though creation now suffers the curse of Genesis 3, the gospel is the means by which the world is being made right. The gospel also carries with it the promise of ultimate renewal, a restoration even more glorious than Eden, and thus believers eagerly anticipate the return of Christ.

We believe that the leaders of Hope Church make a promise to its members to shepherd them according to scripture and the church members make a promise to the church body to submit to God’s word and so we invite people to ‘become members’ of Hope Church. This involves a promise to the church body and a commitment to the local church.

This either takes place after baptism or when an existing believer joins our church and wants to become a member.
